Westown Association Membership

Dear Member/ Prospective Member:

As a member of the Westown Association, you recognize that downtown Milwaukee is undergoing a phenomenal revitalization. In order for this renaissance to continue, support by area property, business owners and residents is essential. The Westown Association provides the vehicle for this leadership through coordinating marketing efforts, special events, transportation and parking planning and community and economic development initiatives.

Looking forward to 2011, Westown will continue to take on issues that affect downtown.  The overall enhancement of Wisconsin Avenue will continue to be a priority.  We know how vital the avenue is to downtown Milwaukee and hope to see new development of all scales in the near future.  As construction of the Wisconsin Avenue Bridge begins this spring, please be assured that Westown will be a resource and advocate for your business during the course of this construction project.  Our association will continue to get a handle on Westown's nighttime economy through the collaborative effort with the other downtown neighborhoods and the Responsible Hospitality Institute. This effort will result in a new framework for managing our downtown entertainment districts and will positively impact public safety, transportation, cleanliness and overall quality of life for everyone living and working downtown.

This year we will continue to produce a lineup of special events attracting thousands of people to the downtown. The new year will get off to a great start when the 45th Annual Milwaukee St. Patrick's Day Parade returns on March 12, 2011. Then, it's time to get ready for an action-packed summer with River Rhythms and the Westown Farmer's Market both beginning in June and continuing each Wednesday throughout the summer and into the fall.    Rounding out 2011 and continuing into 2012 will be the return of the Westown Indoor Market, which brought everyone's favorite Farmer's Market vendors inside to the Shops of Grand Avenue for the third time this winter.

Please continue to be a part of the more than 130 stakeholders who are also passionate about the Westown neighborhood. Enclosed is a 2011 membership invoice and application.

We want to continue to increase member benefits and participation in 2011, and we are excited for you to be a part of that.  As you will see on our 2011 Member Application, we are asking for additional contacts who should be involved with Westown, as well as the opportunity to have employees in your organization participate in one of our committees.  Westown is here to support the businesses in the neighborhood, and we want to remind you to take advantage of that.  We can promote a special happening in your business through our e-mail newsletters, Facebook & Twitter- which combined have over 1,700 followers.  These are just a few of the many benefits you receive with your membership with Westown.

We assure you your investment in Westown will make a difference. Our members are a vital part of our success!

Sincerely,

Stacie Callies
