Dear Prospective Member,

On behalf of the staff and board of the Westown Association, BID #5, thank you for your continued interest and support of downtown Milwaukee.

As we start the year, we are excited about the continued momentum and prospective changes in store for the Westown neighborhood in 2018. To illustrate the magnitude of changes in store for Westown, we’ve developed a list of some of the catalytic projects that will continue to reshape the area into a dynamic, mixed-use neighborhood:

  • Completion of the new Bucks arena; Construction of the Live Block
  • Completion and operation of Phase One of the streetcar’s 2.5-mile route known as The Hop
  • The Brewery Neighborhood Projects –Vim & Vigor Apartments, Hyatt Place, Brewery Loft Apartments and Milwaukee Brewing Company brewery, tasting room and restaurant.
  • Groundbreaking of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra’s historic rehabilitation of the former Grand Warner Theatre
  • Residential conversion of the Wells Fargo building at 735 W. Wisconsin Avenue into 144 units
  • Grand Avenue – Completion of the 2nd floor conversion of the Plankinton Arcade into the Plankinton Clover Apartments and ground breaking of the conversion of the New Arcade to office space and food hall
  • Conversion of St. James Church at 833 W. Wisconsin Avenue to event space
  • Completion of the St. Anthony Project – 60 units of affordable housing at 1004 N. 10th Street
  • Residential conversion of the Century Building at 808 N. Old World Third Street into 50 units of affordable housing.

As projects like these build further momentum in Westown, our association will continue to advocate on your behalf on important issues such as public safety, licensing, transportation and economic development projects.

In 2018, we will continue to organize and grow the organization’s successful, longstanding special events, which include the Shamrock Club of Wisconsin Saint Patrick’s Parade on March 10th, the 22nd season of River Rhythms and the Westown Farmers’ Market.  We will also host the 5th annual Westown Golf Open at Western Lakes Golf Course on Monday, September 10th, which continues to be a major fundraiser for the association.

Please join the more than 130 stakeholders who are also passionate about the Westown neighborhood. We assure you your investment in Westown will make a difference. Our members are a vital part of our success!

Sincerely,

Stacie Callies,
Executive Director
